This weekend is often regarded as the last long weekend of summer. With the kids and teachers heading back to school, the days getting shorter, the nights a little cooler, this weekend typically allows us to shift gears to a new season even though the summer is still technically with us until September 21.
We marked the weekend at the farm with a great visit with some old friends (including Long Weekend Stacey (of course!) ) and did something we havn’t done all summer…we fired up the sauna. Graham and Grant planted a whole new wave of fall veg like kale, arugula and spinach. They hit the tomatoes hard; pruning and re-trellisong the vines that are now very heavy with tomatoes. Today we spent the day harvesting, washing, sorting and packaging all the veg for market, restaurants and our CSA customers.
